traveling and living in amazing places is great. but it's not worth it if i'm doing it alone or with people who don't know or understand me.

    this is absolutely true. i had that moment of realization one day in new zealand... not thinking that being alone wasn't worth it, more just that next time, i was going to do it with someone i cared about and could reminisce with about it years later.
